Pomeroy proves conservatives’ point

After reading Leigh Pomeroy’s op-ed, “College campuses bias toward intellectual honesty," I want to thank the one-time college instructor for helping to prove our assertion that intellectual diversity is missing on some college campuses, including MSU, Mankato.

After all, his rejection of intellectual diversity provides the perfect example of why it is needed in the first place.

Minnesotans should be troubled when one political ideology, whether it is conservative or liberal, dominates our college campuses.   When that takes place, debate gives way to dogma and education gives way to the party line.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what is taking place on some campuses.

Remarkably, according to Professor Pomeroy that lack of intellectual diversity is ok – even preferable -- because “evidence does not give arguments equal weight.”

Yet, he fails to address one critical question.  Who gets to decide which “evidence” is presented to college students so they can weigh the arguments for themselves?

Should Pomeroy and the other self-styled “progressives” who often dominate the ranks of college professors be the sole arbiters of such evidence?

Absolutely not.

After all, what is to deter professors from giving greater credence to their evidence which might strengthen their arguments while ignoring factual evidence that challenges their assumptions?

That is exactly why IntellectualTakeout.com is needed.  It provides students with evidence and facts that are often not readily available in the classroom -- so they can decide for themselves which perspective they agree with.

Pomeroy’s unwillingness to accept or understand why students would need such a resource provides further proof that IntellectualTakeout.com is sorely needed at MSU, Mankato.
